About me! |
Hello! My name is Kelly Schumacher. I am currently a junior at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, where I am in the Early Childhood Education program. Before attending St. Norbert's I attained an Associates Degree from UW Fox Valley. I grew up in Little Chute with my family; my parents, Gerald (Scooby) and Linda, and my sister, Katie. Growing up I was very active. I played the piano for seven years, was in Girls Scouts, as well as playing softball, basketball, and volleyball, which continued into high school and after. As of today, I am a nanny for a wonderful family, coach volleyball at the high school varsity level in my hometown, and work for my parents landscape company. I enjoy traveling, learning new things, and just experiencing life! |
St. Norbert's has opened my eyes to the various outlooks on life. It has taught me that each one of my students will have their various needs and it is up to me to differentiate towards each one. The key point in today's education is creating culturally relevant practices within the classroom. It is vital for our students to relate and connect to the material in order them to ultimately learn. For me, a Multicultural Education, is, essentially education.
This website will take you through each of the important experiences of using a multicultural educational approach within the classroom. It will, as well, teach you information about the various cultures, people, and events that have taken place throughout history both within the United States as well as around the world.
